Kasargod: A police constable who was undergoing treatment after he was attacked by an unidentified group last year, passed away here on Friday March 11, at his residence in Thiruvananthapuram.

Sunil Kumar(42), attached to Manjeshwar police station is the deceased.

On November 16, 2015, who was patrolling along with Deepak from Kasargod armed reserve police near Tuminadu in Manjeshwar, was attacked by a group of five people. Immediately the local police rushed to the spot and the injured constable was taken to hospital. Sunil who had suffered serious head injuries was undergoing treatment since then. After few months of treatment he was on medical leave.

On Friday, March 11, Sunil collapsed and was rushed to hospital but pronounced dead on arrival.

It may be recalled that Siddiq, Sabir, Anwar and Mubarak from Tuminadu were arrested by the Manjeshwar police on charges of assaulting the constable.
