Mangaluru: In the early hours, a woman walking along Bijai Church Main Road had her black bead chain forcibly taken by two unidentified individuals on a motorcycle. This incident took place on October 21, leading to the filing of a report at Kadri police station.
The Mangaluru CCB unit promptly organized a specialized team to apprehend the suspect, resulting in the arrest of Chandrashekar, also known as Darling Chandra, near Bangrakulur. The police recovered a broken gold bead chain weighing 21.300 grams, as well as the motorcycle with the license plate KA-41-EW-0959, which was used in the crime.
The accused, Darling Chandra (29), a resident of Bidadi in the Ramanagara district, was in possession of a broken gold chain weighing 213 grams, two mobile phones, and a motorcycle, with an estimated total value of Rs 2,41,000.
Law enforcement authorities noted that Darling Chandra had a criminal history, including involvement in cases of extortion, murder, attempted murder, and assault. These cases were registered at police stations in Harohalli, Kumbagodu, Bidadi, Dabaspet, and Nelamangala rural areas within the Bengaluru Rural district.
