Sullia: In a rather filmy style robbery, a gang waylaid a car in broad daylight, put the occupants of the car on gun point and fled with Rs five lac cash at Aivarnadu of Sullia taluk on Monday morning.

As per sources Abdul Khader, an areca trader from Guthigaru and a resident of Umikkala is the victim.

Khader, owner of Pragathi Enterprises was traveling along with his employees Shafiq, Yasin and Basavaraju to Aivarnadu from Bellare when his car was waylaid by another white car. Four men got out of the car and put Khader and his employees on gun point and tried to take away the bag of money which was in Shafiq’s hand. When Shafiq retaliated, the gang attacked him with knife, due to which he suffered injuries. They then snatched the bag and fled the scene.

The victims have said that there were five men including the driver. The four who ventured out of car to execute the crime had three pistols and one knife. Each one seemed to be about 30 years old and were donning T-shirts.

The police suspect that it must be a pre-planned robbery that too chalked out with the help of someone who knows Khader’s daily schedule very well because Khader used to pass the same stretch everyday owing to his areca purchases.

Bellare police have registered a case and SP Bhushan Borase has said that two teams have been formed to crack this case. Sullia SI and Bellare SI will head the teams.
