Mangaluru: As the number of COVID-19 cases has been on the rise in the Dakshina Kannada district, the Congress party has asked the government to appoint an IPS officer as a special investigation officer to find out the exact reason behind the occurrence.
Pointing out to the confusion behind the rise in COVID-19 cases in the district, Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) spokesperson P V Mohan said, ”Some people believe that First Neuro Hospital is the source for the recent spike in Covid-19 cases in the district and some others believe that the 50-year-old woman from the Kasba village in Bantwal, who was the first victim of the disease in the district, caught the virus from her son, who recently returned from abroad. Even the district administration is not sure about this. Hence, a proper investigation should be conducted by an IPS officer,” he stressed.
Meanwhile, Mohan also asked the government to appoint a KAS officer to supervise the Wenlock Hospital. “The hospital has not been following the instructions of the government and is not handling the cases properly. A KAS grade officer should be appointed to supervise the hospital. Meanwhile, the hospital should follow up on the patients who had recovered from COVID-19 as there may be chances getting reinfected with the virus,” he said.
