Bantwal: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Prahlad Joshi threatened of a massive agitation in case the state government went ahead with the appointment of Maulvi in place of Hindu priest (Archak) to perform puja rituals at Datta Peetha.
The state government is deceiving both Hindus and Muslims to appease voters from minority community with elections round the corner, Joshi said addressing media here.
Reacting on Ashok Kheni joining Congress, Prahlad Joshi said Congress was busy taking in deceptive leaders with money power and Kheni’s entry was the latest example.
On imposition of Urdu by certain organisations, Joshi said, the government had to take a firm action on the issue.
Congress is in a “state of fear” due to Jana Suraksha Yatra organised by BJP, said Joshi.
On District In-charge Minister Ramanath Rai’s charges of Sangh Parivar’s hand in the killing of four men, the state government was free to take action in that case, Joshi retorted.
“The murders occurring in the Karavali region in an organised manner suggest that BJP and Sangh Parivar are directly responsible for them. The Jana Suraksha Yatra is a ruse to mislead people”, Rai had alleged.
The political temperature in the state is set to go up with the Datta Peetha issue and BJP raising ante to consolidate Hindu vote bank ahead of the Assembly elections through the party-organised Jana Suraksha Yatra.
The BJP’s demand comes in the wake of state cabinet’s decision on March 3 to bring Hazrath Dada Hayath Meer Khalendar Sree Guru Dattatreya Baba Buden Swamy’s Dargah (Datta Peetha) at Chikkamagaluru under the control of the Muzrai Department.
Earlier C T Ravi had questioned the continuation of Mujawar, a Muslim, as the priest of Datta Peetha, while the state government decided to hand it over to the Muzrai Department.. “The Siddaramaiah government is again playing Muslim appeasement politics by ignoring the sentiments and demand of Hindus,”, he had alleged while demanding the appointment of a Hindu priest to perform rituals.
BJP MP Prahad Joshi is in coastal region as part of the Jana Suraksha Yatra with its valedictory convention scheduled at Mangaluru on March 6.
