Kasargod: The custom officials arrested a person for carrying gold here at Kozhikode airport. The arrested is said to have arrived from Dubai through an Air India Flight on Saturday.

Aboobakkar Sadat(30) from Bangaragudda in Kasargod, who arrived at Kozhikode airport had hidden 9 kgs of gold wrapped in golden carbon paper inside table fan and emergency lamp.

Custom officials while checking, found gold in his luggage and during interrogation the arrested told the officials that the gold belonged to someone else from Dubai. He was asked to deliver it at Kozhikode airport to a person for which he got remuneration of Rs 50,000.

However the officials arrested the passenger and the seized valuables worth Rs 2.20 crore.
