Annual sports meet of St Agnes College begins

Mangaluru: The annual sports meet of St Agnes College here, was inaugurated by Army officer Manas Chowdhary – Karnataka 18 Battalion – NCC, on Thursday December 16 on their campus ground.

After hoisting the college flag, the army officer who had served during the Kargil War encouraged the students for their sports event.

He said, “Sports and extra curriculum activities are sidelined due to the increase in competition in the educational filed, however sports is equally important.”

The Army officer further stressed that, sports helps in character building, nurtures ones personality, and helps in management and team work as well.

Earlier a colorful March Past was displayed by the students of Agnes College – on the theme “Agriculture of India”. The students emphasized on the importance of farming in India through the March Past. Students marched under banners such as – vegetable farming, family farming, natural science agriculture, poultry farming, honey harvesting, vegetable cultivation, horticulture, Jai Jawan Jai Kisan, etc.

The college flag was presented and later hoisted. Balloons were released unveiling the occasion by the dignitaries.

The welcome address was delivered by Sr Supriya – Principal of St. Agnes College.

Mrs Indira chowdhury, Dr. (Sr.) Maria Roopa A.C – Joint Secretary, Former Principal Dr. (Sr.) Prem D’Souza and others were present.
