Mangaluru: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Amit Shah will visit Mangaluru on January 27 to participate in Maha Mastakabhisheka rituals of the 35-foot monolith in Karkala, said K Pratap Simha Nayak, president of Dakshina Kannada district unit of BJP.

Speaking to the reporters on Thursday, Nayak said that Mr. Shah will also address a public meeting and boost membership drive, after taking part in the rituals at Karkala.

He further said that before Shah’s visit, the district unit of BJP is confident to not only complete the target three lakh membership but we will exceed it by four lakhs, he said adding that the unit already has one lakh persons registered in the membership, which started on November 1, 2014 and will conclude in February-end 2015.

Hence, the unit has identified over 5,000 full time party workers who will visit door to door to encourage membership. Every assembly constituency is asked to achieve at least 50,000 memberships, Nayak added.

Kasthurirangan Report

Nayak has asked the state government to ensure that the two teams who will examine the implementation of Kasthurirangan Report must hold meeting in the gram panchayat level and consider the opinion of all the stake holders.

The DK unit of BJP also suggested few changes in the report before its implementation. The state government should look into the cultural and natural landscape by holding reality checks before submitting the report to the union government.

There is a lot of confusion and fear among people about the implementation of Kasthurirangan Report. Hence, it’s the responsibility of the state government to ensure that the questions of the public are properly answered before taking any decisions, he added.
