Moodbidri: A three day national level Kannada literary meet, ‘Alva’s Nudisiri’, was inaugurated at Sundari Anand Alva campus here on November 14.

In his inaugural speech Na D’Souza said, these days, generation is frantically following the western culture. Prior to Independence, we used to follow Britishers, and now we are attracted to an American culture, which lacks sophisticated values that do not go ahead with a rich Indian culture.
Dr Siddalingaiah presided over the function. In his presidential address, Dr Siddalingaiah said that, there should be no distinction between rich and poor. Today we are following western culture by sending our children to English medium schools, morally which is unhealthy.
He also stressed to give an equal status to Dalits, who are deprived of many facilities. He particulaly extended his prosperous wishes to a student from a Koraga community studied who is pursuing her MBBS in Alva’s College, which is the first time in the history of Koraga community.
Dr Mohan Alva on the occasion said that our regional languages should get prominence in the society and Alvas Nudusiri is a best platform for it.
MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, Minister Abhaychandra Jain, Capt Ganesh Karnik, Amarnath Shetty and others were also present.
Prior to the inaugural ceremony, a grand procession depicting the coastal region’s folk culture was carried out.
