Mangaluru: A youth was attacked in Ullal area during wee hours of Monday by armed miscreants.

The victim is Naushad Hussein (23), an employee of a samosa manufacturing unit in Mukkacheri. Naushad was rushing to the unit to start his work when a duo attacked him. However, Naushad escaped the murder bid with severe injuries and timely intervention of night patrol police saved Naushad.

Fairoz, a local resident and a witness to the crime said that if the police was not on the spot, the miscreant would have killed Naushad.

About one year ago, Raju Kotian, a local fisherman was hacked to death. Close on the heels of this incident Ibrahim Nasfan was killed to avenge Raju’s killing and in connection to the case Ramith from Mogaveerapatna and Ramith from Ullal were nabbed. The two were released on March 25 and it is now suspected that attack on Naushad could have been the duo’s work.

Ullal region has turned tense following the incident.
