Mangalore: AMIT faculty Coordinator, Asst. Prof. Suman Lasrado received the prestigious IBM “BEST MENTOR “award while, Miss Hanica received the honour of being a “TOP 50 COLLEGE” on behalf of AIMIT. AIMIT was chosen as a “TOP 50 COLLEGE” from among the 800 colleges across the country, states a press release from the institution.

The winners were given the award by Mr. Chetan Bhagat ,the renowned Author of the ‘The half girlfriend’. The award ceremony was held at CMRIT-Bangalore on 15th October, 2014, at which around 800 students and faculty from different colleges were present.
AIMIT – St. Aloysius Institute of Management and Information Technology, Department of IT and Bio-Informatics, is one among the 135 COE’s in the country, collaborating with the IBM academic Initiative from the year 2010.
IBM academic Initiative holds a series of contests to help the students to learn, explore and grow intellectually in the Field of Information and Technology.
TGMC-The Great Mind Challenge is one among those contests which sees active participation of the students from AIMIT College every year from the year 2010. TGMC- 2013 was based exclusively on first of Big4 Technology and Mobility. The main concept of TGMC lies in application developments which give the students a chance to learn about mobility from a repository of self learning assets and provide them with the software tools free of cost to work on and build mobile applications under the able mentorship of experts from IBM software labs.
The contest has helped the students of the college to develop innovative applications such as gaming quiz, puzzles, Student management systems etc .So far the number of apps submitted by the students have come up to around 300-400 over the past three years.
Students of AIMIT are also helped to obtain IBM certifications from the IBM software Center of Excellence. The certifications include DB2, RAD, LOTUS, TIVOLI and project management states the press release from the institution.
