Mangaluru: The national IT Fest ‘Epitome 2015’ organized by the PG School of IT of Aloysius Institute of Management and Information Technology (AIMIT) was concluded on a grand note on the evening of March 13 at the Beeri Auditorium.

Mr. Rakesh Kumar in his welcome address quoted a student from a participating college who said “Epitome is the best ever IT Fest in the state of Karnataka”. Participating colleges were full of admiration for this wonderfully organized unique IT Fest. Creative ideas, Mr. Rakesh said, is not anyone’s monopoly, but something from which each of us can benefit.

Participating colleges applauded AIMIT for putting up such an amazing opportunity. Participants from the RV College, which won the overall championship, congratulated organizers for their enormous effort in making this fest an exceptional experience; saying the trophies will be forgotten soon, but the inimitable experience they had of this event will always remain with them. Other colleges admired the students of AIMIT for their passion and commitment in making the external participants feel at home with their extraordinary warmth and generosity.

Addressing the gathering, the former director of the Airport Authority of India, M R Vasudeva who was the chief guest of the event, said, “The Library has become useless these days, technology has made available information in our hands, IT has created a revolution,  however we need to control technology”, Vasudeva advised the students.

“You are the tomorrow of technology, the representatives, you are responsible to create something that can build or destroy, technology has been breaking our social lives, we need to create better ideas”, he suggested.

Vasudeva said, “The world is a global village, there has been an explosion of technology, although you can create an idea that will deliver technology as a tool. Technology is the most important tool of any organization thus creates an efficient idea, he concluded.

Fr. Pradeep Sequeira, Administrator of AIMIT, who presided over the valedictory program added his sharp and infallibly accurate summation of how technology is still a stumbling block for those who are not quite sure of how to avail of its benefits. Fr. Pradeep commended the work done by Fr. Denzil Lobo, Rector of St. Aloysius – a man of technology, for the students. He urged the students in their pursuit of higher achievements and search of successful careers, not to overlook the poor, needy, deprived and the disadvantaged; since that is an area which needs a lot of focus by those who are prosperous. He said, the more you give, the more you receive.

A very befitting vote of thanks was delivered by the Dean of the PG School of IT – Prof. Santhosh Rebello, in which he pointed out how students need to recognize things that are changing around us; our country is moving from services industry to a products industry. Being a voracious reader, Santhosh recommended that the students read about diverse view-points, like the book titled “When the Penny Drops”, and learn from experiences of people from different walks of life. He especially commended Mr. Vadudeva’s highly practical approach and tenacity that made the Mangalore airport project so successful.
