Mangaluru: In a shocking incident, Air India Express flight, which landed at the Mangalore International Airport (MIA) from Dubai, on Sunday evening reportedly skid after landing.
According to the sources, Air India Express arrived from Dubai at around 5.40 pm. When it landed and proceeded towards the terminal, the incident took place. However, pilot’s presence of mind helped all the 183 passengers to have a miraculous escape as he brought the aircraft to the safer position.
Though efforts were made to contact Air India operational managers and airport director, it went in vain. Dakshina Kannada district in-charge Minister U T Khader urged the airport authority to treat the issue with all seriousness and to conduct a detailed probe in this regard. He also urged to take all precautionary measures at the MIA to ensure the safety of passengers.
District information department informed that U T Khader has already spoken to the Director General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) and the officials of Ministry of Aviation to find out whether any problems are prevailing in the runway of the MIA.
It can be recalled that Air India Express flight from Dubai had crashed while landing at the same airport in 2010, claiming the lives of 158 people.
