After VGS’s death, Vedavyas Kamath wants to make Ullal bridge safer

Mangaluru: After Cafe Coffee Day founder-chairman V G Siddhartha’s unfortunate demise took the nation by storm, Mangaluru South MLA Vedavyas Kamath has decided to make the Ullal bridge a safer place.

Taking to Facebook on Friday, August 2, the MLA announced that he planned to install CCTVs on the bridge that has “become an increasingly dangerous place”.

He also informed that he would consult district Deputy Commissioner Sasikanth Senthil regarding the matter.

His post read: “…The Netravati Bridge has become an increasingly dangerous place in the recent past.This leads to unpleasant events, such as suicide. Installation of CCTVs will be helpful in immediate inspection of accidents on the bridge. Checking CCTV footage will shorten the time to investigate and effort for the District and Police Department will be comparitively less.

CCTV cameras can be helpful to the victims’ households, friends as well as the police officers investigating the cases. It will also be helpful to track down any other offenders.

It can be recalled that Siddhartha went missing late on July 29 night from the Ullal brigde. His body was found by fishermen near Mulihithlu early on July 31 morning. his death was mourned by scored of people all over the country.
