After Surathkal woman tests Covid-19 positive, AJ Hospital to follow Covid protocol

Mangaluru: After a 68-year-old woman from Guddekopla in Surathkal tested positive for COVID-29 after receiving treatment at the AJ Hospital in Kuntikan, the hospital management has now announced that it would follow the Covid protocol.

AJ Hospital Medical Director Dr Prashanth Marla, in a press release, informed that the woman was referred to them by a hospital in Surathkal which had diagnosed her with Cardiomyopathy and skin lesions on the leg on May 12. She was checked in the emergency ward and later moved to the ICU. She had an episode of low-grade fever and her throat swabs were sent for testing on May 13. Her report came back positive for COVID-19 today.

Dr Marla also informed that the hospital will undertake the following precautionary measures:

1. All patients and their relatives will be tested with thermal scanners at the entrance.
2. All those who enter must compulsorily use a face mask and sanitise their hands.
3. Later, they will be again triaged by doctors, nurses where they need to complete a Covid screening questionnaire.
4. Only the patient qualifies, they will be allowed to enter the hospital with only one relative.
5. If there is a fever, they will be check at a dedicated fever clinic.
6. If any patient comes with Covid symptoms or from suspected areas, they will be admitted at the isolation ward and swabs will be sent for testing.
7. All healthcare workers who are in contact will wear appropriate PPE.
8. All these patients are managed in the isolation ward with dedicated staff.
9. The hospital will follow a strict “no visitors” policy.
