Mangalore : This is the tragic tale of the life of a young man who has dreams in his eyes. The youth who aspired to be the backbone of his poor family through his earnings, is now lying on the hospital bed totally reliant on his poor parents.
Until a few days ago, Chethan, the eldest of the three sons of Nagappa Gowda, Yashoda couple of Koinadu in Madikeri, was a normal, bubbly youngster. After he was unsuccessful in his SSLC exam, Chethan worked for a relative at his shop and was helping the family while also studying for his exams. He had aspired to do his PUC privately.
But, as fate would have it, Chethan who was deeply interested in sports, took part in the old students sports meet during the platinum jubilee celebrations of his alma mater. He took part in the high jump event and even reached the final. But to his misfortune, before he took the plunge, he almost fainted and fell onto the ground. Ever since then, Chethan has been unable to stand on his feet.
He was immediately admitted to a hospital in Sullia and later to Yenepoya Hospital in Mangalore. Though his poor family has spent lakhs of rupees towards his treatment, his condition has not seen any improvement. His family is in dire straits trying to meet his medical expenses. Already Chethan’s father remains indisposed after he lost one of his limbs in an accident. His mother who is the sole bread winner of the family is now unable to work as she has to take care of her son.
Doctors have operated upon Chethan twice. They say he needs two more operations to be better.
Chethan’s father Nagappa Gowda hopes liberal contributions by donors may help in availing best treatment for his son. Anyone interested in helping Chethan can remit the amount to the following account number or can contact the following phone number.
