Mangaluru: Team Challengers of Sahyadri College of Engineering and Management, Mangaluru is hosting its fourth edition of Aeromodelling competition ‘Aerophilia’ at Sahyadri Campus on September 20 and 21.
Event coordinator Gowri Hiremath told reporters here on Wednesday, September 18 that this two-day national event has given wings to innovative thinking to budding engineers and innovators in the past and strives to continue to do so. The event is a great way to gain exposure and widen one’s social and professional network. This fest is an opportunity for young school kids to come and marvel at the wonders of science and meet and interact with eminent personalities so as to gain interest in science and technology.
There will be multiple events during the first day like aeromodelling, drone race, photography, tug of bots, ISRO Hackathon, air-show, treasure hunt, technical talk, water rocket, glider workshop, rubik’s cube. During the second day, there will be events like paper presentation, technical talk, paper plane, robo – sumo, open plane flying, death race among others.
SHINE foundation director Johnson Tellis informed about th Hackathon that will be organised by the ISRO during the event. “There will be a wide plethora of participants attending it. This is the first-ever Hackathon being conducted by the ISRO to find applications for the NAVIC chip (India’s very own navigation system). The ISRO representatives will be there to provide round the clock guidance for the participants. The representatives from the ISRO will also be giving highly informative technical talks during the course of the event. Every year over 1000 people participating in the event and this year we are expecting a crowd of about 1,5000 people.
