Mangaluru: After months of evading the arrest warrant issued by the court in August 2014, A C Jayaraj accused of forging signature to fabricate fake orders, surrendered before the court on Tuesday. He was sent to Judicial Custody following his surrender.
A C Jayaraj, brother of A C Vinayaraj, corporator of Mangalore City Corporation, along with other advocates was accused of producing false orders forging signature of Principal District and Sessions Judges to draw prematurely fixed deposits of accident victims. A complaint in connection to this was filed in Mangalore North police station.
He had forged the signature of Principal District and Session Judges B.V. Prakash and Chaudapurkar Arun. He was dealing with cases of motor vehicle accidents. The complaint was filed on the directions of Principal and Sessions Judge Uma M G. The judge’s direction came following an inquiry after the manager of Dena Bank’s Kankanady branch came to the court with letters bearing the seal and signature of the Principal District and Sessions Judge directing the bank to prematurely release fixed deposits of accident victims.
The police sources said he was at large since August 2014 after court issued arrest warrant. The sources in the Mangalore North police station said, he would soon be taken into their custody for further investigations in the case.
