Mangaluru: A woman who sustained severe injuries in a road accident near Uppinangady died at a hospital where she was shifted for treatment after Dakshina Kannada Deputy Commissioner Dr. Rajendra K. V. intervened.

Poornima Bhat (47) and her husband Balakrishna Bhat (47) were returning home on Saturday June 18 when a lorry that was under contract with the NHAI-related work rammed into their two-wheeler. Poornima was thrown from the bike and suffered serious head injuries, while her husband had minor injuries.

DC was on his way to Alankaru village for the ‘Grama Vasthavya,’ when he noticed a group of people and alighted from his car. He made quick arrangements to get her to the hospital for treatment. However, she was declared brought dead by the doctors at the hospital.
