Udupi: An accident claimed the life of a man after his car smashed into a tanker at Kaup, near Vidyanikethan on NH 66 at around 4.15 pm on Friday March 7.

The deceased has been identified as 52-year-old Kussappa. It is learnt that Kussappa was a rent-a-car driver at Mangalore Airport.

Reportedly Kussappa had picked up a passenger from the Mangalore airport and left him at Udupi, while he was traveling back towards Mangalore, his vehicle rammed into a tanker from the opposite direction.

Although he was rushed to the hospital, Kussappa succumbed into his injuries as he died on the way to the hospital.

A case has been registered at Kaup police station.
