Mangaluru: The Dakshina Kannada unit of Aam Admi Party (AAP) has written a letter to the mayor of Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC), insisting to establish ward committees.

The city corporation will have to constitute ward committees under the Karnataka Municipal Corporations (Amendment) Act, 2011. The Lok Adalat, on January 4, 2014, had also directed the corporation to take steps to constitute the committees.

to the reporters on Monday, AAP leader Dr. Mercyn D’Souza said that the party again wrote a letter to the mayor. In reply, the mayor said that the city corporation has constituted a three-member committee which is studying the pros and cons of establishing ward committees. It needs two weeks, she said quoting the letter.

Meanwhile, Ravi Krishna Reddy, state spokesperson of AAP reiterated that the Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) are two faces of the same coin. “We will work in such a way that the people get an alternative from these two national parties. Our core idea is development and to root out corruption. The Congress and BJP are on the different lines, he said.

‘New office-bearers’

Mr. Reddy also said that national level AAP representatives visited entire state and studied the prospectus of the party. In two weeks, the party will appoint office-bearers across the state to handle different roles, he said.

The party will fight in the Delhi assembly elections, which is likely to be held in the month of February. Hence, party workers from across the state will join the contestants and campaign for them, he said.

He also appreciated the works of deputy commissioner A.B Ibrahim and said the congress in the state came to power due to the misgovernane of the BJP and similarly the BJP got huge mandate due to the lack of administration by the congress in the centre.
