Mangalore : The present problem faced at the Mangalore International Airport due to the presence of a single taxiway will soon be a thing of past once the new parallel taxiway comes up.
Reports of late suggest that the Airports Authority of India has approved the Rs 35 crore project and the contract was likely to be assigned to a Delhi firm. The works which may take off soon, will be completed by December end next year.
As of now the single way 250 meter long taxiway is used for entry and exit of aircrafts from the runway and if at all the timings of any aircrafts clash, then they will have to wait for nearly 10 to 15 minutes until one aircraft passes through the taxiway. Once the 600 meter long parallel taxiway is complete this problem would be solved as then there would be separate entry and exit paths for the aircrafts.
