Ivan D’Souza, a former MLC, led a group to the Passport Seva Kendra (PSK) in Mangaluru on Monday and pleaded with the officials to give applicants access to basic amenities. D’Souza spoke to the media, drawing attention to the Mangaluru PSK’s dearth of basic facilities. “I’ve asked the authorities to give visitors to the PSK access to basic amenities.
For the convenience of those who arrive at the PSK, there are no chairs. They are compelled to stand or sit on sidewalks or by the side of the road. In addition, the Congress leader claimed that no restrooms, parking facilities, or public water supply were available.
The PSK receives 500–600 visits a day from people from all around the state. D’Souza said that they must wait in the intense heat of the sun and urged the government to take immediate action to resolve these problems. “Officers have committed to resolving the issues that the public faces.
In the interim, we have also requested that the PSK be moved to a more practical location. Since there is enough room, we have proposed that the PSK be relocated to the former DC’s office. We will stage a protest if our requests are not fulfilled, D’Souza clarified.
Every day, the PSK receives between 500 and 600 visitors from all around the state. D’Souza emphasized that they must wait in the intense heat of the sun and urged the government to react to these problems as soon as possible.
“Officers have decided to address the issues that the public is facing. Additionally, we have insisted that the PSK be moved to a more practical location in the interim. We have proposed that the PSK be relocated to the former DC’s office, as there is plenty room there. D’Souza clarified, “We will hold a protest if our requests are not met.
The Dakshina Kannada Waqf Advisory Committee’s vice-president, Ashraf Kinara, reiterated the opinion, saying that the government should either move the center to a better site or give all necessary facilities for passport applicants at the PSK.
