Bantwal: A C Bhandary has been appointed as the President of Karnataka Tulu Sahithya Academy.

Bhandary, 74 is the Honorary President of Akhila Bharatha Tulu Sahithya Okkuta and has been active in the field of politics and organisating folk events.

He had played a vital role in forming ‘Mangaluru Tulu Koota’, immediately after the bifurcation of South Canara district and formation of Dakshina Kannada district.

He had also carved a niche for himself as a threatre artist during 1970s. His lead role in a play named ‘Manager Kanthu’ bagged him immense appreciation.

Bhandary has held various position in political circles. He has actively served in various temple committees as well. He was honoured with Dakshina Kannada District Rajyothsava Award for his service to the field of theatre and folkart.

On being appointed as the Academy Chief, Bhandary has thanked District in-charge Minister B Ramanath Rai.
