Mangalore: Two year old Lakshmi, the cow of the Pandeshwar Shri Mahalingeshwara Temple in the city was the cynosure of all eyes on Monday July 14 when the temple had arranged a baby shower ceremony (Seemantha) for her.



Lakshmi who was reared with great affection in the temple, had the privilege of enjoying the Seemantha ceremony, which most members of her tribe are deprived of.
Around 2000 devotees had gathered at the temple to witness the ceremony held under the guidance of Temple Priest. Lakshmi was offered a wide variety of sweets including Laddoos, Chakkulis, fodder and just everything she loved. Women also performed Aarati. Lakshmi was gifted saree and even ornaments for the occasion.
Her companion Nandi who also belongs to the temple, was also part of the celebrations.
A lunch was also served to the devotees who had gathered for the occasion. Temple authorities say they had received generous contributions from devotees for the function.
