Mangaluru: Graduating students of the AJ Institute of Allied Sciences, Mangaluru were awarded certificates at a glittering graduation ceremony ‘Innovatia 2018’ held at the college auditorium on August 13. A total of 94 graduates from eight departments – BSc in Medical Lab Technology, Optometry, Medical Imaging Technology, Renal Dialysis Technology, Respiratory Care Technology, Operation Theatre Technology, Perfusion Technology and MSc in Medical Lab Technology – attended the event.
The event began with a graduation march by the students, faculty members, and the guests. Amrutha and Sajina invoked God’s blessing with a prayer song. Head of Optometry Department Ramachandra Shet V welcomed the gathering. Principle AJIAS Dr. Sushith delivered the Annual report of activities in the college.
The Commissioner of Mangalore City Corporation Mohammed Nazeer, who was the chief guest of the day, inaugurated the event by lighting the traditional lamp. President of AJ Group of Institutions and Laxmi Memorial Trust, Dr. AJ Shetty, Vice President Prashanth Shetty, Dean Dr. Ashok Hegde were present.
Later the passing students were administered oath by Principle Dr. Sushith. Students excelling in academics were given the merit awards. Best outgoing student of the year Aseeb K and 59 other rank holders were honoured during the event.
Dean, Dr. Ashok Hegde, in his address, lauded the hard work, commitment, sacrifice and dedication shown by the students. He congratulated the students and wished them the best for their future in the healthcare industry.
Addressing the gathering, the chief guest Nazeer said “Graduation is not an end in itself, but is a start of a new beginning. You need to upgrade yourselves, to innovate and to be creative. Remember this college wherever you are- because whatever you are today is because of this great institute.” He called upon the graduates to be ever-ready to reach out to the needy people and to utilize their talents for the betterment of the society.
President of the function Dr. A J Shetty said, “We at AJ group of Institutions, educate all students to bring out their best abilities. Our talented and qualified faculty are dedicated to provide top quality education. Our state-of-the-art facilities help students to gain exceptional practical knowledge. You are not just students here but are part of our family. Be good, do good to the society and that’s what we expect from our students.”
Shilpa Paul and Pratheeksha Shetty expressed their gratitude to the faculty and management on behalf of the graduating students. Ashwini N, lecturer in Biochemistry, AJIAS delivered a vote of thanks. Tripthi Uchil, Lecturer, Dept of Micro Biology compered the programme.
