Bantwal : Nine passengers of a KSRTC bus were injured when the bus was hit by a lorry at Maani Junction on the Mangalore-Bangalore National Highway on Thursday June 12.

The lorry heading towards Mangalore from Sakleshpur hit the government bus proceeding towards Puttur from Mangalore. Passengers seated on one side of the bus were injured in the mishap and have been hospitalised.

The failure of the authorities to construct a circle at the  point where the Mangalore-Bangalore NH converges with the Maani-Mysore State Highway at Maani Junction is said to be the reason for many accidents at this spot. Even the demand for a circle here over the past several years has fallen on deaf ears.

Dayananda BK, a driver of a Bus belonging to the KSRTC depot of Puttur has  lodged a complaint with Vittal police.
