5000 people expected to get jobs as ‘Udyoga Mela’ comes to close

Mangaluru: The two-day Udyoga Mela concluded here on November 21 at Canara Engineering College Benjanapadau. The fair received a positive response as more than 5,000 job seekers are expected to benefit from the same.
Speaking on the concluding day, District in-charge minister B Ramanath Rai said, “The first ever Udyoga Mela has created history and the response from all over the district is great,” he said.

“More than one lakh students passing out from several prestigious institutions every year in Dakshina Kannada district look for jobs. They are moving towards foreign countries for jobs. So in order to support them, these job fairs are necessary”, he said.

Udyog Mela to be held in Udupi soon

Vinay Kumar Sorake, chief guest of the closing programme said, “Dakshina Kannada, even though tops in the field of education, lacks employment. By organizing this Udyoga Mela, Ramanath Rai has set an example and encouraged other ministers as well. In coming days, Udyoga Mela will be organised in Udupi too”, he said.

Job aspirants’ number reaches 12,470

In the two-day job fair, a total of 16,695 aspirants had registered out of which 12,470 participated. On day 1, 10,006 aspirants and on day 2, a total 2,464 were present for the interviews.

A total of 223 companies participated in the job fair. Out of these, 165 companies have completed the appointments, 655 aspirants have been selected and 3200 are shortlisted. Remaining 58 companies will complete appointment within a week. In total, as many as 5000 aspirants are expected to get employed, it has been reported.
