
Mangaluru: A 40-day-old infant suffering from a heart-related ailment was moved from Father Muller Medical College, Mangaluru to Jayadeva Hospital, Bengaluru under ‘Zero Traffic’ arrangements on Thursday, February 6.
The infant belonging to Harris Gerukatte, was being treated at the Father Muller Hospital for a heart condition. When the doctors suggested that the child be taken for advance treatment immediately, arrangements were made to take the infant in a KMCCU ambulance which is equipped with sophisticated medical technology.
With the cooperation of the Karnataka State Police, the route from Mangaluru to Bengaluru was declared ‘Zero Traffic’ and police were deployed at specific points to enable the smooth movement of the ambulance.
The ambulance reached Jayadeva Hospital at around 4.30 pm on Thursday and the treatment for the infant was initiated immediately.
A video of the incident went viral on social media, wherein people were seen making way for the ambulance by sticking to opposite sides of the road.
Ambulance driver Haneef was lauded for his driving and time sense.
