4 prisoners shifted to Gulbarga Prison for instigating assault on cops

Mangalore: The District jail authorities have shifted four under tails to Gulbarga jail on Wednesday June 11 following a raid by the police.

The jail inmates had assaulted police officers including the ACP at the sub jail here on June 8. Taking the issue seriously police officials during their visit to the prison on Wednesday had questioned the inmates and decided to shift four of them.

The shifted have been identified as Shameer and Samshuddin who were named as accused in the Deralakatte forced sex case, Safwan who was arrested for theft, and Sahir.

The other two inmates Muhammed Faizal, and Talhat Koya Tangal  have already been shifted to Dharwad jail for harassing other jail inmates. The cops were attacked  when the duo were being shifted  in consultation with higher officials of the department.

Some senior police officers visited the jail on Wednesday for inspection. During the visit, which lasted for four hours since 7 am, they found ganja packets, knife, Blades and mobile phones.

DCP Vishnuvardhan, DCP Jagadish, IGP Ravi Kumar, ACP Tilakchandra and all the station circle inspectors and sub-inspectors joined the force and conducted the raid, after which they decided to shift four prisoners.
