Mangaluru: A total of 38,633 students will be appearing for the PU examination starting today, March 1 in Dakshina Kannada district.

Out of these 19,567 are male and 19,066 are femal students. As many as 34,863 are regular students while 1,400 are going in for a repeat. Another 2,370 are appearing for the examination as private candidates. A total of 17,045 are appearing in the commerce stream, 4,901 in the arts stream and 16,687 in the science.There are 54 examination centres in the district which have been completely fortified to conduct the examinations. Principals, Block Education Officers and Tahshildars will be overseeing examinations.

The district administration has ensured that each of the examination centre is under vigil and surveillance of the CCTV cameras so as to avoid malpractices. PU question paper leaks had brought immense shame to the state couple of years ago and hence the department concerned has been alert to make sure no such episodes repeat.
