Kasaragod: The state government has released Rs 56.76 Crore for distribution among Endosulfan victims based on the recommendations of the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC).
This amount is already credited to the District Collector’s account to distribute among 3439 beneficiaries.
The state Cabinet had allocated Rs 56.76 Crore on March 23 to distribute among the beneficiaries during the third phase. The government has now released the money and issued a circular to distribute it to the victims.
The process to transfer the amount from District Collector’s account to Endosulfan victims’ bank account has already begun. The district administration has asked Endosulfan victims who received compensation during the first and second phases to furnish their bank account details to the ICDS supervisor.
Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan had administered the official inauguration of the third phase compensation on March 30 at Kasaragod Deputy Commissioner’s Office.
An amount of Rs 46.125 Crore and Rs 44,645 Crore has been disbursed in two phases.
It may be recalled that the apex court had ordered to release the compensation by April 10 based on the recommendations of NHRC in its judgement dated January 10.
