Kasaragod: Three students were instantly killed and five others injured when a lorry crashed into a parked car at Iritti near Kannur on Thusrday, May 26.

The deceased have been identified as Ashiq and Minas both aged 19 and Yasin (18) from Vadagara Thikkodi.

The passengers in the car were degree students of Vadagara M H E S College and were reportedly returning from an outing.

The accident occurred when a lorry from Mangaluru toppled on a Tavera car parked near Iritti Makod check post.

The fire brigade, police and locals had a hard time pulling out the passengers stuck in the car. The injured were shifted to hospital.

Iritti police have registered a case regarding the incident.
