Mangalore :A bakery unit operating at Ashoknagar was raided by the Labour Department officials on October 3, Thursday and rescued three child labourers of Tamil Nadu origin. The raiding team found two boys and a girl working in the bakery products manufacturing unit.
It is learnt, the officials were earlier tipped off by the Domestic Workers Rights Union. The bakery was run by one Ravi P of Sunkadakatte. The rescued child workers were taken to the CWC office at Bondel. They will be subject to medical examination at Wenlock on October 5, Saturday to ascertain their age. If they are found to be below 14 years, then the bakery owner will face a case
Labour Department officers namely Deshpande, Anandamurthi and others were part of the raiding team.
