2 passengers arrested with gold hidden in wafer tins, hook holders

Mangalore : In two separate cases, customs officials have arrested two passengers who arrived by Air India Express flights from Dubai on February 18, Tuesday morning, on the charges of trying to smuggle gold. If one passenger was found hiding  gold rod and a gold sheet  in a cream wafer tin and marker hidden in a carton, another passenger was found in possession of golden hooks and hook bar holders for trousers. The same were painted silver.

The value of the seized gold is Rs 24,09,347. It weighed 789.950 grams.

The first passenger  arrived by the flight which landed here at 5.30 am  while the second passenger arrived by the 7.30 am flight. They have been identified as Jaiyafar Chala Muhammed Kunhi Haji of Vidyanagar in  Kasargod and Noushad Mouval, of Pallikere in  Kasargod.
