17 colleges hit the ‘Crossroads’ at Mangalore University

Mangaluru: A two-day national level management festival, Crossroads 2K17 under the auspices of the Department of Business Administration, Mangalore University was flagged off at the varsity campus on April 6.

The welcome speech was given by Prof. Putanna K, Staff Advisor. The dignitaries present were K Kishore Alva, Executive Director Corporate Affairs, Adani Power Ltd, UPCL; Dr. K Byrappa, Vice Chancellor, Mangalore University; Dr. T Mallikarjunappa, Professor and Chairman, Institute of Management, Mangalore University; Roshan Paudel, President; Karthik Das, Secretary and Rakesh, Fest Coordinator of Crossroads 2K17.

Roshan Paudel gave a brief introduction to the two-day event. He went to on to say that life is a journey full of crossroads and it is the individual’s decision to take the right path.

Chief guest at the inaugural ceremony, K Kishore Alva said, “The meaning of Tavran is to accelerate. And using this two-day event we should accelerate our ideas and come up with new ones. Time management is critical in anything we do. To achieve something everyone needs to plan out their short, mid and long term goals. By making a time table our work will be done and the goals met on time. The advantage being that it will help us to be more realistic, more productive and we will end up having more freedom. Time management will help in developing good organisational skills.”

Acknowledging the chief guest’s advice, Dr. K Byrappa, Vice Chancellor, Mangalore University said, “Management should be called management science, since management studies is a part and portion of science.” He asked everyone present to take note of the lack of research in the field of management, it being a wonderful subject and highly interdisciplinary. Further, he added that there was no field or course where management was not involved.

The presidential address was given by Dr. T Mallikarjunappa, Professor and Chairman, Institute of Management, Mangalore University.

The University witnessed a total of 17 colleges registering for the event.
