Bantwal: A 16-year-old student committed suicide by hanging himself on Friday December 8.

The deceased is identified as Deeshak, a class IX student of Morarjee Desai Residential School, Bantwal. It is gathered that Deeshak was an intelligent student. The reason for this extreme step is not yet ascertained.

Deeshak’s father Devanna Nayak committed suicide two years ago. His mother Shyamala is visually impaired, it is gathered.

A case has been registered in Bantwal Rural police station.
