Kasaragod: A special team of the Health Department of the Kasaragod Municipal Corporation has started a drive against banned plastic products and following which several shops have been fined.
Several shops at the old bus stand in the Town were raided on Friday March 24 and around 35 kgs of plastic products were seized.
Those doing business on the roadside have been warned. In all, Rs. 10,000 fine has been imposed for a margin-free supermarket in the old bus stand premises among others.
The seized banned plastic products have been handed over to the Municipal Corporation. Drive will be done in the coming days as well. The drive is being carried out by Municipal Health Department Officials, Internal Vigilance Department officials, District Joint Director’s Office under the leadership of District Sanitation Mission Enforcement Officer.
