Karwar: A youth has been arrested for allegedly attempting to sexually assault a minor girl who was on her way to school.

Sunil Madev Naik (24) was arrested in Siddapur taluk in Uttara Kannada.

The accused had waylaid the 13-year-old school girl and attempted to sexually assault her. Although, the alert locals succeeded in rescuing her, Naik managed to flee from the spot.

A complaint was registered at Siddapura police station.

Police said that the accused had been imprisoned earlier for a similar offense.
