Karwar: A collision between a car and lorry killed three from same family on the spot, at Mavalli cross of Yellapur in Uttara Kannada district.

Vinayak Hegade (35), Archana Hegade(33) and one-and-half-year-old Shravani breathed their last at the accident spot. However, four-year-old Yashashwini Hegade survived the brutal mishap.

The Hegade family hailed from Sirsi and Vinayak was employed in a private company, which recently transferred him to Belagavi. They were heading to Belagavi from Sirsi as he was yet to enroll his daughter in a school in Belagavi.

The alto in which the family of four was plying collided with a lorry which was plying to Kumta from Hubballi. The driver of the lorry has been nabbed and Yellapur police have registered a case.
