Karwar: The Honnavar police has successfully arrested prime accused in Paresh Mesta case. With this the number of arrests stand at two. The arrested is Salim Sheikh.

Violence had broken out after two groups fought over trivial matter on December 6. Following the incident, Paresh Mesta, who was a mere witness to the fight went missing and was only traced dead on December 8 in a lake in Honnavar. This incident sparked violence in the district. Paresh’s father Kamalakar said that his son was murdered with a specific intention and that five were involved in the murder. Soon the case was handed over to the CBI.

Even then, the police continued to arrest the youth who went missing after the riots.

Acting on reliable information Salim was nabbed from Shivamogga. Another suspect named Annigeri was arrested sometime ago.

Saif, Imthiaz and Faizal, three others named by Kamalakar are still at large.
