Karwar: In a freak accident, eight persons were injured when a police jeep and a car collided on NH 63 near Belageri in Yallapur taluk of Uttar Kannada district on Tuesday, March 15.

Ananda, one of the accused in the Manipal sexual assault case was in the police jeep which was on its way to Dharwad central jail.

Dharwad district armed reserve police who were escorting him after a hearing at the court in Udupi were also injured.

Rizwan Sheikh, Dadapeer Mulla and Arshad Sheikh who were in the car were injured.
