Karwar: A person has been arrested by the Karwar police for uploading provocative communal posts on social media.

Shankara Naik, a resident of Chauthani in Bhatkal is the arrested.

It may be recalled that during the communal riots in the district recently, Gokarna police had registered complaint against those inciting communal hatred through provocative posts on social media.

Following the complaint, the team led by Karwar PSI Navin Kumar Naik, Ankola PSI Shridhar and Gokarna PSI Santhosh Kumar arrested Shankara and produced him before the court.

SP Vinay Patil said that Naik has been sent to judicial custody in Kumta.
