Karwar: Police have arrested one person for trying to smuggle Goan liquor worth Rs 1 lakh in a car near Binagapatana of the Karwar district, on Friday, September 7.

The arrested accused has been identified as Vinay Shanta Nagerayaa of Bandishatta.

On learning that alcohol was being transported illegally from Goa to Honnavar via roadway, a team led by Inspector Sharanagowda Patil leapt into action and intercepted the vehicle. They seized the car, along with its contents and arrested the accused.

A case has been registered at the Karwar Rural police station.
