Karwar: Women’s Day, cycle jatha for equality held

Karwar: As part of International Women’s Day celebrations on Wednesday March 8, Karwar Bicycle Club organised a bicycle rally behind Mayuravarma stage at Rabindranath Beach shore here on Sunday March 5.

Judith, who works in Goa in the field of social service organised cycle jatha with the mission of equality to make women aware of fitness like men. Navroop Kaur, a woman officer at the naval base, Dr. Archana Pikale and athletic sprinter Archana Nayak were the chief guests.

The cycle rally was attended by Municipal Council President Dr. Nitin Pikale, who also launched the drive. Hundreds of people took part in the cycle rally. The rally, which started behind Mayura Varma stage in the city, ended near Kali River Guard in Kodi area.

Karwar Bicycle Club President Dr. Suresh Bhat, Secretary Suraj Hegde, Treasurer R. V. Bhat, Dr. Sachin Naik, Kishore Bandekar, K. M. Shetty, Mahabala Shetty, Vinod Naik, Anand Thamse, Jagadish Olekar, Vishnu Todkar, and Shivaprasad Naik were also present.
