Karwar: On Sunday January 15, two nests of a sea turtle were found at Karwar Devabagh Beach and they have been preserved in a safe place.
Karwar Division Deputy Conservator of Forests Dr. Prashanth Kumar K. C. Assistant Conservator of Forests Jayesh K. C., Research scholars Suraj, Shaan Nawaz and Akshaya visited the spot.
With the cooperation of fishermen, the conservation of the sea turtle is possible. The department will pay Rs. 1,000 to those who provide information about the egg laying. The sea turtles are being protected under the Wildlife Protection Act, 1972.
They have their own place in the marine food chain, said Deputy Conservator of Forests Dr. Prashanth Kumar K .C.
