Karwar: In an unfortunate incident, a man from Karwar has been shot dead by militants in Afghanistan.

The militants had abducted three individuals of foreign origin-a 64-year-old Malaysian, 37-year-old Macedonian citizen and 34-year-old Indian named Patson Rodrigues and killed them on Thursday. The three were employed with an international food services company Sodexo in Kabul.

The bodies of the three were found in Mussahi district close to Kabul after their abduction early on Thursday.

“The three were abducted near Pul-e-Charkhi Kabul early morning, but hours later their bodies with bullet injuries were found in a car parked in the Mussahi district, some 25km south,” an official is quoted in the media.

Rodrigues had called his family in Karwar before leaving for work in the company’s pick up vehicle. The militants had hijacked the vehicle, killing three while allowing the driver to go.

The dead body of Rodrigues is expected to reach India in a couple of days.
