Karwar: Chaitra Kotharkar, a candidate from Karwar Ankola Assembly constituency, said she missed the ticket at the last minute as she was an aspirant for a Congress ticket.
Speaking at a press meet at Pathrakarthara Bhavan here, he said that she had joined the JD (S). Former Chief Minister H. D. Kumaraswamy warmly welcomed, she said. As the JDS candidate from the Constituency, she is confident that the people of the constituency will give full support to her.
“I am contesting as a JD (S) candidate as the people of the constituency wanted a new candidate this time because they were hurt by the rule of the two persons contesting the elections. I have done well as a Zilla Panchayat Member and Chairperson of the Standing Committee on Education and Health. There are no allegations of corruption against me. Also, my husband Chandrahas Kotharkar’s political service and the pro-people work I personally did in the constituency made me a ticket aspirant in the Congress,” she said.
“But it was unfair not to give a ticket,” she said and added that later, Kumaraswamy approached her.
