Karwar: As the rains that have been pouring incessantly for the past few days gave some respite on Saturday, the agricultural work and fishing activities have sped up.
Due to wind and rain, the district administration had given instructions not to go fishing. In this background, the traditional fishing on the beach was stopped for four or five days. Fishing, which was suspended due to wind and heavy rain, seems to have resumed on Saturday. At Aligadda and Tagora beaches in the city, fishermen carried out traditional Yendi net fishing.
The fishermen fished amidst the pouring rain and the small roar of the sea. Some caught bumper fish while others were disappointed. It has been found that many fishing nets are filled with plastic and waste.
As fishing started all over the taluk, the arrival of fish in the fish market was also abundant. As it is the rainy season, there is a ban on motorized fishing, so naturally, there is a high demand for fish in the market and the price has also increased. Fish are divided into portions and sold in the city market.
