
Karwar : The Kadamba naval sea base located in Arga village had a surprise visitor, a crocodile that crept into its premises and sent panic waves among the residents, until it was captured by wild life conservation team on October 23.
The four-year-old crocodile measuring 8.5 meters got stuck in the boundary fence and remained there this noon. The wild life conservation on receiving information rushed to the spot and manages to rescue and released it in Gangavali River later.
Wild animals have appeared in the sea bird naval base area in the past but this is the first occasion, a crocodile intruded, said panic stricken residents.
People residing in the area heaved a sigh of relief yet none are aware, how it managed to get into the high security zone protected by saline sea waters.
